HP School Blossoms

This is just a quick report. It doesn’t need more. You may have seen one of my previous reports on the free online classes run by HP. Now it’s expanded that university from classes for consumers and small businesspeople into entire “campuses” for different kinds of people. The one I’ll mention today is for IT Pros. You can find a list of the currently running classes here.

The courses cover Windows subjects AND Linux, so there should be something for everyone.

Current courses include:

  • Administering Windows Server 2003

This course covers the core concepts and new features of Windows Server 2003. You’ll learn to perform common administrative tasks, including configuration and management of users, computers, and resources.
  • Building a Microsoft Exchange Server
Learn how to plan, install, and configure a new Exchange Server 2003 organization.
  • Building a tape backup solution

Concerned about data protection? This course reviews various tape backup options and guides you through the selection and implementation of an effective backup plan for your organization’s data.
  • Introduction to storage networks

This course helps system and network administrators, project leaders, application architects, and IT managers assess their current infrastructure, address evolving needs, and get the best return on storage network investments.
  • Printer networking and management

Learn how to put your printing and imaging products on the network and manage them more effectively.
  • Security for IT professionals

This course will cover several different subjects in an effort to help you find ways to keep your network safe by spotting potential risks in the user environment before an incident happens and how to handle one should it occur.
  • Virus protection best practices

Now more than ever, it is important to defend every computer in an organization against viruses in the most effective manner possible. This course gives IT professionals the knowledge and tools necessary to protect a network and users from viruses and other malicious threats.
  • Wireless networking solutions

Set up a successful wireless network both inside and outside of you company’s four walls.
