Fame, glamour and Gnomedex

This month certainly has been an exciting one, let me tell ya. With the news of Gnomedex coming to Seattle and the success of watching our new(er) contributers shine brightly as new pennies, things have definitely been superb over these past weeks. Now, I am first to confess that I was unable to attend the famed Gnomedex last year. However, this is one event that I am definitely going to be making this year. As a matter of fact, my ticket is being purchased right after I get finished working tonight.
To those of you that are still rolling it over in your minds, you need to consider both the networking contacts you will make along with the education that you’ll be taking home with you. Both myself and Brandon Watts will be attending. If you are an active contributor and are still thinking about it, don’t think - just be there! Allow yourself to take in that hard earned reward for the service that you have provided to the Lockergnome community. Enjoy this opportunity to take the virtual out of virtual friendships with your fellow contributors. Meet with the folks who you write for day after day. Man, you would be nuts to pass this up! This is not even taking the other benefits into consideration…
Moving onto the home front, I had a great interview with Eric Rice today. Brandon Watts was able to schedule him in for an interview on Changing Media today and the show will be posted on Monday. Brandon led the interview being that Eric was really his guest. We had a good time, although there were some technical difficulties along the way. I suppose that it is bound to happen once in awhile, but I do feel better knowing that we did learn some important lessons from it.
Regardless, the interview was great. We managed to cover some AWESOME topics, in addition to talking about where Eric sees Audioblog.com going in the coming months. Now see, this is the Lockergnome advantage right here. You are presented with the opportunity to hear about great interviews before they are even announced on the Changing Media Website. In addition to this interview, we are also working on interviews with the folks behind Popcast.com and the creator of POPFile, the Bayesian email filter/sorter.
With Popcast, all you need to do is take a look at the names on their bios list. Their involvements include everything from work with the Beastie Boys to project coordination on Shoutcast and Winamp. As for John Graham-Cumming of POPFile, you will likely remember him from his guest appearance on The Screen Savers from the old TechTV network. While on the show, he discussed the challenges presented by spam and what types of filtering can be of benefit. While I am still working out details with these folks, it is pretty much a done deal. So in other words, it is going to be a POP-Tastic couple of weeks! You’ll definitely want to stay tuned.
The shows we have up currently are nothing to sneeze at either. Our interview with Rodney Rumford of My RSS Creator was a real success, too. So much so, we opted for a press release that was picked up by both Yahoo and Google news. In the non-interview front, I am feeling pretty confident with the work we did surrounding distance learning and Flash technology as well. Not only did we cover some important topics, but relevant links were included into the show notes as well.
Well folks, I have a lot to do this evening. So with that, I bid you a fond farewell…until next week that is. ;o)
Let’s get digital!
