Kool Tool To Make Your Thumb Drive Bootable

HP has a kool little utility to make your thumb drive into a bootable device. Download it here.

The utililty is designed to work with an HP product, but it works with others. I tested it on my older PNY 64Mb USB 1.1 Attache and also on a 512MB Kingston Data Traveler II+. Both worked fine.

You will need an MSDOS boot disk - Win98 is what I used - to provide the files for copying. Or you can make an MSDOS boot disk by formatting a floppy in WinXP. When you run the utility, it will ask you to tell it where to find the boot files.

Put all of your DOS-based command line utilities on there and you’re ready to go.

404 OBJECT NOT FOUND did not help

HP has updated their web pages and the new link to the utility can be found at this url http://preview.tinyurl.com/ywhobo which has been tinyed so it’s long length won’t break when linking.

When you say “Put all of your DOS-based command line utilities on there and you’re ready to go ” , do you mean everything? Such as AutoExec etc: as well?

What Do You Think?
