Is There a 4WD Electric Pickup Truck in Your Future?

Of all the trucks shown at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers) Show in Las Vegas last week, just one emerged with the geek crown. Painted in an aprapros green and tucked to the side of Ford’s booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s central hall, PML Flightlink’s HI-PA Drive electric Ford F-150 conversion wowed the crowd with four electric motors - one in each wheel.

The full electric F-150 is said to deliver a 100 mile range and one hour quick recharge (with typical overnight charging of 6-8 hours) via a whopping 1000 pound 40 kilowatt hour battery.

Don’t get ready to sign on the dotted line just yet … the full electric HI-PA Drive F-150 is just a technology demonstration … for now … with plans for it to become a series hybrid in the near future.
