Change Colors Of Command Prompt Window (2k/XP)

I often use the command prompt window and one thing I have never liked is the default colors (a black background with grey font). What I did not know, until recently, is that these colors can be changed to something more appealing.

To customize the colors, first open the command prompt window (Start | Run | type ‘cmd’). Click the tiny control box in the top left hand corner of the window (the button that contains the c:\ prompt on it. From the menu that appears, click Properties. From the Colors tab, click Screen Text and click the color you want the text displayed in. Then click Screen Background and select the color you want to use. Once you have made your selections, Click OK.
